PS4 vs. Xbox One

Sony and Microsoft are trying to get holiday shoppers to spend their hard earned dollars on their respective new consoles. The Playstation 4 was released last friday and the Xbox One will be released this week. People don't want to buy new consoles because they think its too expensive. People are leaning more towards smaller devices with less power because it saves them money. Most people buying new consoles are hardcore gamers or 25 to 40 year olds who grew up on new consoles, Its unlikely that prices for consoles will decrease any time soon. Consoles arent dead but things are changing.

In my opinion there are a lot of people who still buy consoles. I don't think that people are going to stop buying new consoles anytime soon. There is still a good market for consoles therefore people will continue to buy them. People want the best of the nest so people will continue to buy consoles regardless of the price. There is always going to be people who will pay absurd amounts for better performance.

J.R. Smith fined for tweets

On Friday it was announced that Knicks guard J.R. Smith has been fined $25,000 for hostile and vulgar comments on twitter towards Pistons guard Brandon Jennings. On Wednesday Jennings tweeted the following "Wait wait wait JR smith brother is in the NBA but @PoohJeter & @BBROWNLAU isn't. Call me hater but not Rollin!!!" This prompted Smith to reply by tweeting "No respect for these lil kids who pop at the mouth on twitter an then want to delete they tweets! #GrowUp! #ManUp! @TheOnlyCSmith0 #Facts" and also apparently threatning to send his "street homies" on Jennings. J.R. Smith has since said that he was not threatning Jennings he was simply defending his brother. This is not the first time that Smith has gotten in trouble on twitter. Smith is considering taking a hiatus from twitter because he always seems to get in trouble on it.

I dont find it necessary for Smith to delete his twitter. I think that if Smith wants to he can easily control himself on social media. It is up to J.R. to make the right choices. He is a grown man and has to learn to make the decisions that are best for him and to stop making these poor choices that continue to have a ripple effect on his career. If Smith is unable to do this eventually no team in the NBA will want to deal with him and he will deeply regret his poor choices in the past. I think that Smith can change but it is entirely up to him.

Demar and Rudy need to learn to share

Derozan and Gay need to go back to kindergarten so they can learn how to share. Derozan and Gay are attempting an absurd amount of field goals. This would be fine if either of them where shooting the ball well, but they are both struggling to put the basketball in the basket. They have attempted 44% of Toronto's field goals and are shooting a combined 35% from the field. When they touch the ball the play stops and they try to isolate and score themselves. Neither of them have been effective in sharing the ball. Their inability to share the ball is leading to less Raptor wins and hindering the development of budding start Jonas Valanciunas. In order for the team to improve these two players need to learn to share the ball and work Valanciunas into the rotation more. If they are unable to do so the development of Jonas will be stunt and they will win less games.

I think that Derozan is doing a decent job in distributing the ball. Derozan has showed great promise throughout the season he just sometimes struggles to put the ball in the basket. Whenever Derozan shot isn't dropping he doesn't try and shoot out of it he attacks the basket and tries his best to draw fouls. I think it is Gay who is failing to distribute the basketball. Gay is shooting career low's from the field and rarely is passing the ball. Tuesdays double overtime thriller is a prime example of how Gay fails to pass the ball. Gay was in fact the first player since 2005 to shoot at least 37 field goals and fail to score over 30 points. Despite Gay's shots struggling to fall all night he continued to shoot and took in fact 12 shots in the overtime periods only making two. In order for the raptors to improve Rudy needs to stop shooting as much and improve his shot selection. I do not blame them however for the hinder in Jonas' development. I think that Casey is to blame their head coach. I don't think he is letting Valanciunas see enough playing time. He often has him sit out the fourth quarter and sit out for long stretches which makes him rusty when he steps back on the court. I believe that for the Raptors future they should fire Casey and trade Gay if he continues to play like this.

Peterson Plays Through Grief

Paragraph 1(summary): Adrian Peterson would have been forgiven for sitting out Sunday's game against the lions. Just two days earlier his 2 year old son was killed in an alleged case of child abuse. Despite the grief Peterson never had any doubt on whether he would suit up for Sunday's 35-10 loss to the Carolina Panthers."I was set on it," said Peterson. Many fans held signs that said "Stay Strong 28" and "Pray for Peterson". Peterson was held to only 62 yards on 10 carries.Peterson declined to discuss the relationship he had with the boy, who lived with his mother in Sioux Falls. The mother's boyfriend, Joseph Patterson, is charged with aggravated assault and aggravated battery. Peterson is leaning on his teammates to get him through tough times. The Vikings will need to lean on Peterson if they hope to get it together in order to make the post season.

Paragraph 2(opinion): I think that it was obviously tough for Peterson to play Sunday, but i believe he did what was best for his team. I think he wanted them to win and that's all that matters. It was his decision to make and I think he made the right one. Let's face it Peterson is the reigning MVP and the best running back in the league. If Peterson had chosen not to play who knows how his team would have done. People are only saying its a bad decision because they lost, but had the Vikings one there would be no doubt. We are talking about arguably the most dominate player in all of pro football. That's just to big a loss for the Vikings to take considering how big of a hole they are in. I definitely believe that Peterson's mind was not 100% on football but i guarantee that will change next week when the Vikings take on the 0-6 Giants. Peterson made the decision he felt best for him and his teammates and for that no one can be upset with him.
